The CALincentives team identified and executed on two key incentives that are making a substantial impact to our business and growth in California. We couldn’t have done it without them.
The experience we had with CALincentives was phenomenal. Alex’s unmatched knowledge and experience with CAEATFA was clear every step of the way. Alex and his team did the heavy lifting and we can’t imagine how we could have done this without them!
The team at CALincentives was a pleasure to work with. The tax incentives they secured for Vivotein will have an immediate and direct benefit to our bottom line.
Practicing in his 14th year, Alex leads the firm’s California Competes, CAEATFA and sales and use tax recovery practices. Alex’s passion and focus are securing high-value tax incentives and refunds for California businesses. Since 2015, he has represented over 45 clients to more than $40 million in California Competes Tax Credit awards.
As CALincentives’ CAEATFA practice leader, Alex recently negotiated a $20 million CAEATFA Sales and Use Tax Exclusion award, allowing his client to purchase almost $240 million of qualified property exempt from sales and use tax. Over the last 12 months, Alex has represented his clients to more than $40 million in CAEATFA STE awards.
Prior to CALincentives, Alex worked in the Big 4, but most recently led Moss Adams LLP’s State and Local Tax (“SALT”) practices in their Orange County and San Diego offices. In that capacity, he led a team dedicated to providing a variety of SALT value added services, including: credits and incentives; multistate income tax planning and advocacy as well as sales and use tax planning. Alex is a frequent public speaker and published author. He has spoken/published for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, Tax Executives Institute, California Society of CPAs, Dallas CPA Society and San Diego Business Journal. Alex is a California Certified Public Accountant, holding an MST from Arizona State University and a B.S. in Accounting from California State University San Marcos.
Outside of his practice, Alex is an active member of the community. He coaches youth basketball for local 3rd and 4th graders, is the Treasurer for Cub Scouts Pack 627 in San Diego and regularly volunteers at/donates to the Poway Unified School District. However, Alex’s greatest accomplishments are his three amazing children that inspire him everyday: Aric (9), Autumn (6) and Addison (4).
